Question: 1 How did the setting and stage design in the YouTube play contribute to your understanding of the story and its themes? Did it enhance or detract from your interpretation of the original text setting? 

Answer:

In the YouTube play, Naga-Mandala by Girish Karnad setting and stage design enhance our understanding of the story and themes. It was very important to understand the characters of the play. However, some of the scenes are different from the original text. 

Some of the characters are different from the original text. In the YouTube play was easy to grasp all the things. There was no confusion regarding the characters. Somewhere we can say it enhances our understanding of the Youtube play but some of the things detract from our knowledge and understanding. 

Question: 2 Were there any significant differences from how you imagined them while reading the text? Mention them. 

Answer :

First of all, we were reading the original text and then watched the Youtube play. That's why we get a better idea of the play. But many things changed while we watched the play than the original text. 

The character of Rani is described in the original text that she's so beautiful and has long hair but in the YouTube play, it was changed. Then there was Kuruddva Appanna's mother's best friend who in the text described as a very normal human being and she helped Rani. But in the play described her funny way. In the first part of the text man sitting in the ruined temple and around him, many flames are talking and laughing. But in the play, male flames were there. 


Question : 3 Discuss any cultural or historical elements presented in the YouTube play that were not explicitly mentioned in the original text. How did these additions enrich your understanding of the narrative? 


Answer :

According to me, there are not exactly cultural and historical elements presented in the play and not mentioned in the text. But among Rani and Appanna's sexual relationship, these are not exactly mentioned in the text. 


Question: 4 Overall, how did watching YouTube play enhance or change your understanding of 'Nagamandala' as a literary work? What insights did you gain from experiencing the story visually that you may have missed while reading the text alone?

Answer :

 When we watched the play we got an exact idea of the Nagamandala work. I read the text some of the parts I could not grasp but the visual platform gave me better ideas and understanding of these things. 

 I enjoyed reading the original text because there was a deep conversation among the characters, and there was showed the conservative mindset of her husband, and his society's look at the women's situation. 


Question: 5 Write 10 lines on the play "Nagamandala."

Answer : 

1. Initially this play starts with a man who is seated in a ruined temple and around him many flames were there. 

2. A man was in a dilemma that if he slept he would die. 

3. Rani is the beautiful daughter of her parents and she married Appanna. Appanna is a narrow narrow-minded person. 

4. After marriage Appanna takes Rani inside of the house and locks her. He came home after next day for lunch. 

5. Kurudvva and Kappanna come to the Rani and talk with her regarding her marriage life. 

6. Rani explained everything to Kurudvva and she gave the roots to Rani for her better relation with her husband. 

7. Rani mixed these roots in a curry and she was worried that if something happened to Appanna, I would become a widow.  

8. This curry is drunk by King Cobra and the doppelganger of Appanna. Naga came in the night and romance with Rani. And she becomes pregnant. But Naga told her to keep secret this thing. 

9. Appanna is in a dilemma and he does not accept that Rani is pregnant.  Naga suggests to Rani to give an ordeal and speak the truth. Rani gives an ordeal and Naga does nothing to do her and goes hooded over her head. 

10. People believe that she is a goddess and then Appanna also believes that she is a goddess and then they both have a good life.
